So I am pretty sure that my timing went out by a tooth when I replaced my head gasket a while ago.
I can't find where to time it in the book without taking all of the covers off of the motor. It does not help that the paint wore off of the chain and gear.

i think your gona have to atleast pull the top cover to check the cam gear. but you can easily find tdc on compression stroke of the number one. there should also be marks on the crank pulley. but if not just stick something long in the spark plug hole and rotate the engine by hand making sure to not get the long stick jamed into the top of the piston and just rotate till its tdc. then look for marks on the cam gear.
