Replacing the front crank case seal on 95 Might Max.

It's a 2.4L engine. I got to pulling the outer crank shaft sprocket and couldn't get it off. The Haynes manual skips removing the outer sprocket completely. Yes I know they're useless. How do I get it off? Can I use a harmonic balancer puller to get it off?
