i got a 88 2.o and i had to recently replace the water pump... well apparently i messed the timing up when replacing it.. but when i went to correct timing by the book it wont crank.. the carb doesnt have a vacuum when turning over the engine yet it blows gas out... but everything is aligned up as per the haynes manual..so im outa ideas and suggestions?

Hi,

I assume the engine now cranks.

Follow the steps in your repair manual and perform a compression test. If your timing belt is installed correctly and your engine is not worn out, your compression should be 149 psi plus or minus 10%.
