1990 Mighty Max not starting

Hello all,

So my MM has been having a LOT of problems. First major one is it wont turn over. It keeps trying to but it will never start. The weird thing is I have to run a wire from my positive battery terminal to a big red wire that connects to my MAF (mass air flow senor/meter). Then when I do, I can hear my truck "hum" when I put the key in the ignition and turn it to the start position. Isnt that the fuel pump? I replaced that relay on the passenger side below the ECU but that is the only way I can get my truck to run. The truck burns way too much fuel, no guts when I accelerate, and I can hear that relay "clicking", which messing up the truck and I cant accelerate, and lastly dies when idling.

my 86 d50 use to do that too i replaced the carb that was on it with a weber and took the exhaust manifold off and replaced it with some pacesetter headers works fine now good luck though
