Im new to the site and to the 4x4 world, i got a 1989 Dodge Ram50 and here is my problem. She has been driving awesome and all of the sudden the she won
I'd clean and tighten the main ground, on the engine block.
Sounds like your starter or starter solenoid might be your problem. Starter can be tested with an ammeter to check for draw without removing, google starter test for details.
i had the started tested and that was not it.... :( whats my next step guys please help!!!!!
Well i somehow rigged it to where i put a wire from the +side of the solenoid to a push button and then from the push button to ground, but i have to turn the key as im starting the truck and press the button and she starts.... any ideas on what i can replace?
Sounds like a bad ignition switch or a broken wire from the ignition switch to the starter.
John
ok guys i got the starter problem fixed now i have another problem, the break light on the dash keeps going on and off, the oil lights does too and both are topped off with fluids, also there is a lot of hesitation specially under load. im giving her a complete tune up this week and im hoping that will fix it Also when i shut her off it keeps trying to run until it stops.
Sounds like the timing maybe a lil and is it a 2.0
Ok update: the engine is a 2.6L after giving her a complete tune up i discovered about 6 vacuum lines were cut and broken off, the sparkplugs were BAD!!!!!!! the cap n rotor were corroded and the radiator was CLOGGED... now she runs like a champ a little high on the idle but she is ok
Lol wow never would have guessed that good to here its goin
