Removing powdercoating from wheels?

I have been on so many sites in the past couple months and I dont remember where I saw it but a guy had black 22s and removed the powdercoating, How is that done? I am about to get a truck with the wheels powdercoated white. I would like to have just the lips polished for now. Any ideas?

When we remove the powdercoat, we normally use a sandblaster and then go back and polish the wheels. If you are just wanting to do the lips for now you can just sand the coating off the lips with a DA sander and then polish to your liking.
