I've been kicking around the idea of dropping the body from my 86 b2k on a 2600 to get 4x4, but I love my truck as is and I use it frequently for daily transportation so I think I'm just going to get another truck. What are your opinions on the various years of the 4x4? I'll be using it for driving on the beach and maintaining it myself so I'm looking for an engine that is easy to work on and reliable. I love the FE despite their lack of power because they are total workhorses.

Id say the 87-88 with the carbed mitsu motor would be easier to work on. The 89-93 4x4's with the FI mazda motor are good runners and have more power, they do have some issues with the computers and overheating though.

find an 87-88 2600 4x4 with the mitsu carbed motor and transplant the fi and turbo setup off a Conquest TSI .200 plus hp and a screamer.same 2600 motor.bj

so are all the mazda g6's fuel injected? for some reason I thought it was an option to get FI but you could get a 2600 maz motor carbed. I like the starion/conquest turbo idea. does the FI/turbo bolt right up to the motor or would I need to swap?
