Bed Covers

Shaved my tailgate handle and thought about putting a Truxedo bed cover on. My question is how would I open the cover if I can't drop the tailgate first?

Is there a cylinder lock option for the cover? Could you maybe add an actuater or solenoid to run the lock like you would with a shaved door handle?
