VW Gti Rear Control arms

The car is a 09 GTi. I was looking to replace the stock rear control arm with a bag on bar type setup. My question is what should i use? I was thinking just a 4 link bar with heim joins on both ends because the wheel is about a inch or so foward from where the control arm mounts to the subframe. Will the bar and the heim joint be strong enough to hold the back end of the car up or would i have to go with something a little stronger?

for my ion I have something similar and my only issue is that the cross member twisted, but thats being fixed now. I have 3.5" bushings on threads rather than heims, but the car isn't heavy enough to cause any issue. I think you should be fine, but I may also be imagining something different than what you are.
