I have a tool with a 12V DC motor that I want to convert to 110 AC and heard you can get an inverter. Anyone have experience with this and any possible suggestions on an inverter that you would go with?

do you want to run the motor with 110? if so you need a converter. converter=110 to 12
inverter=12 to 110

more info please.

if you want to make 12v with 110 you need a converter and a 12v battery. plug the converter into a 110 outlet and hook up the battery to the 12v side of the converter. the battery with filter the current. without the battery, it would be like driving a car with only an altenator and no battery.

if you are trying to make 110 you need a few batteries. depending on the amps required and the run time. the inverter will hook up the opposite way. 12 in and 110 out.

how much current does it draw? If it is small, you can use a wallwart syle transformer. If it is larger, there are bigger power supplies like the ones for laptops that are 4a or more.

get ahold of a security company you can get a power supply that is used for security cameras 12v sizes all the way up to 135 amp you will probably not need near that much. you can probably find it on e-bay

you need a DC power supply.   Check out lambda  http://www.lambdapower.com/products/product_index.htm#acdc

What these two said,djdcb3man2001, STUD1Y (Jey).  Get a dc power supply.  Hobby places should also carry these.
