Spark and my Golf Cart

Hey i have a columbia par car golf cart and when you firts push the pedal theres a single spark that jumps and then when you let off the pedal it sparks again but it does not spark while the pedal is held!?!?!? anyone got any ideas? new plug in it and a brand new battery... im lost here lol
