my girlfriends brother was telling me about dually registration. he said that it has to be registered as a commercial truck? i don't really believe it.. but he said his friend had to do that. i asked is it because he tows over a certain weight? and he said he doesn't even tow. so i would like some of you guys to shed some light on the situation plz.

When i got my 84 king cab dually i had to argue the fact that it was a pick up and no longer a tow truck but after that it was easy to register as a personal use pick up truck.

The only reason you should have to register your truck is if you use it for a commercial use or tow over a certain GVWR. In this case you would get a tag that begins with a P or H with the appropriate weight tag on it. If it is just a personal truck then just get a normal tag of your choice.

awesome, thanks for the info i appreciate it. i just didn't want to run into any problems at the the dmv once i find a dually. i wont be using it for commercial use just to tow my crx to the drag strip 5/6 times a year.

Here in Arizona anything over 3/4 ton has to get registered with commercial plates really doesn't mean anything nothing different with insurance or anything. But some of the new neighborhoods with HOA's say you can't have a truck over 3/4 ton at all no 1 tons single, extended or crew cab.
