USB port on PS2

what are the 2 usb ports on the ps2 what do they do? my other slim ps2 broke and i bougth a new one today and it has 2 usb ports in front i dont remember if my old one had ti on there or not but the manual doesnt say what you can do with them

the old PS2 had em' on the front too... i have a USB keyboard that plugs right in and works great for online chatting and stuff.. and they have a mouse that plugs in there too (Not sure why) also a company makes a modchip that plugged in the USB port too so you can play burnt games

I have a game for my kids called Eye Toy that has a cam that plugs into it.

I use it to put new codes on my codebreaker from the internet
