2000 eclipse gt acting funny

i just bought a 2000 eclipse gt and when i bought it it had a sulpher type smell from the exhaust which gave me a clue that the cat. converter was stopping up... now when driving and i have my foot on the gas just a little the car will act like im running over railroad tracks like its running out of gas...or something....i have a 97 chevy fullsize also and it does the same thing......when its doing this and i give a little more gas it will stop...could this just be the cat.. and if so can i cut it out on the mitsu....i know i can on the chevy i have done 4 of them but im worried bout the mitsu...

HEY DUDE CHECK YOUR EGR VALVE AND YOUR TPS SENSOR, THEIR ARE LOTS OF THINGS THAT WILL MAKE IT DO THAT BUT DO YOU HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON? IF YOU DO HAVE SOME ONE CODE IT OUT. THAT WILL SAY WHATS IF THEIR IS
