Added my 1988 Mazda B Series Truck!

what horsepower are you getting with the new motor
matth0le   +1y
Not sure. Stock is 140ish so it should be around that. The motor only had 32K when I pulled it so it should be near factory rating.

did you have to change anything to the drive line or did it all bolt up
matth0le   +1y
Everything bolted right up. I had to use the Mazda engine mounts but besides that it was straight bolt in. Now wiring and plumbing was a different ball of wax.

did you use the mazda tranny or the kia one
matth0le   +1y
I used the Mazda tranny. Don't think the Kia trans rear mount is the same. The Kia trans I have is an auto but the auto trans mount does not look like it will bolt in the truck. I'm assuming the Kia manual trans mount is the same and won't bolt up.

Also, the Mazda tranny does not have provisions for the Kia crank angle sensor so I got creative with and 11/16" holesaw and made my own.

Wow that all looks so familiar I even have the same brand of battery but I arranged my evap can and computer differently. You know that you can use the upper radiator hose from the sportage all you have to do is cut a couple of inches of one of the ends when your using the stock radiator. Oh and your right about the manual kia trans the trans mount and shifter are both a few inches further forward and I think the overall length is shorter to.

What did you do for the speed sensor. I'm using the kia speed sensor mounted on the mazda speedo drive gear since it is kind of plug and play. I just don't know what I'm gonna do to make the speedo read correctly.

I should steal the engine out of my mom's '01 Sportage. I don't think she'd mind...
