ball joint dust seal won't seat

When my car is laid out the dust seal won't seat.This is on a 64 Nova. The front is a Heidts Mustang II front clip with tubular control arms. Ball joints and seals are new. Anyone now where I can get some conveluted or bellow seals? Any other thoughts on a fix? Anyone ever run no seals at all and just clean them often (PITA)?
