I was just wondering, would a chopper gas cap cause me to fail inspection?

mabey if your inspection station does gas cap pressure tests like they do in MA

I can't speak for Texas either but I know you can't pass with one here in Georgia because they do the gas cap pressure test here also.

same here in CA. get one with a check valve built into it, if they even make it.

In Texas it depends on if you bring the guy the right beer. If he's a Bud Light guy and you bring him Miller Light, maybe you'll fail. But most just want it cold and in the 12 packs range. then you can pass with almost anything. LOL

those gas caps will also throw up an EVAP code in most vehicles, they usually have vents in them, and the EVAP system needs it to be closed to conduct tests. you can get them non-vented, that should work but you cant use them if you DONT have evap still hooked up, and theyll also build pressure when the truck sits in the sun.

I live in Elpaso, After moving from PA to Texas they made me do emissions, I have a harley fatboy gascap, I just bought a actory cap from autozone and handed it to the inspector. Passed with flying colors. Give it a shot. Might work for you.

So I am confused... I have a 99 Chevy crew cab dually and a 93 Caprice wagon and was wanting to put one of those flush mount gas caps on them. Will it throw a check engine light if I switch to one of these? And is it going to cause problems w/ my gas tank swelling...?

Big Dee, It probably will on the Dually, but not the caprice. I changed it on my 95 GMC Fullsize and nothing came on.
