Does anyone know roughly how expensive chroming is. Jenn wants to chrome the '67 camaro bumper on the back of the tacoma.

The middle would need to be leaded along with the corners since it would have to be cut again to get it straight instead of V'd/bowed like now and section the corners differently to wrap around the bed nicely and same. The chroming place would take care of leading right?

where i work we do it ourselves, we use lead-free solder, most places will do this for you, but price kinda depends on the quality of the work and how much work has to be done to straighten and fix the bumper.

the few chrome shops around here will not do the lead work for you. The just do the plating process.

the price will be pretty high for that item i bet, sounds like alot of metal finish work ontop of the chroming process.

good luck.

the cutting welding would be done by someone else... just getting the welds all smooth etc before chroming it.

from the experience i've had with it leave a little weld and take a file and hand file it. after we get it fairly smooth, we send it and have it copper dipped several times, then they send it back to us and we then start with 80 grit sand paper and work our way to 320 grit, then send it to be chromed. its a lot of work.
