Is there a GM engine out there that would sit much lower than the factory one would in an s10? It doesnt matter to me how much lower it could be mounted on the frame, but how low it is in general for the most underhood clearance. It needs to have a carbed intake manifold availible for it as well. I dont care about performance at all as long as it clears the hood.

Actually, several things make an LT-1 different. For one, it doesn't have a distributer cap. Two, it is aluminum head with reverse coolant flow from a standard small block Chevy. Three, It has D shaped exhaust ports, so regular small block headers won't work right. Four, you can hook it to a computer program and do all kinds of cool performance tweaking. Five, Height wise, the intake plennum only sticks up maybe an inch higher than the highest point of the valve covers. With the accessories rearranged, it is probably the most shallow V-8 you can find from oil pan to plennum. And if you can mess with the oil pan and get it good and low, you could probably door minis and keep it under the stock hood.

If you run a dry sump system the motor is under 2 feet tall.
