easy way to hang exhaust?

Just want it hung for STC this weekend, but also don't want troubles with it. I'm trying to get the truck ready, and the exhaust will be the hardest part aside from actually cranking it. Only because he rigged it before. He just used plumbers tape and welded it to the exhaust and crossmember. Is that safe? Good enough? Or should I figure out to use actual hangers?
