sectioning stock gas tank

anyone got pics or could explain how they did thiers? mines too wide to put between the frame rails. also would it still read the same since i wouldnt be messing with anything really?

kuts r us did mine in my izuzu basically the idea is to measure the height you want it at. then remove the tank. drain the gas. rinse it out. cut the section out and re weld it solid then use a gas tank sealer. reinstall i lost about 2 gallons of tank room in mine not to bad at all.

what they didnt show was cleaning the tank...... you can get it boiled clean.... what i did was soak it in soapy water for a couple days, rinsing it out every day....... that way no fumes to scare the poo out of you..... you can do it the manly way and burn the fumes out though......

or hook it to your exhaust. the carbon dioxide keeps the fumes from igniting.

thanks for the help guys. i actually have an extra tank sitting in my backyard that has already been drained, so i dont really need to worry about fumes. im not taking away from the height just the width but will taking a section out affect the fuel gauge or will it be ok since the sender/reader/whateveritscalled thing is untouched?
