ok, i've about decided to do a custom dash when i bodydrop, but that won't be for a couple years. I have my dash out, so i want to paint it to somewhat match what the color scheme is going to be (orange and blue). I don't want to drop a buttload to glass and paint it, i just want it different from the ugly tan color it is now. I've heard of vinyl dye, will that work better than paint? It comes in a rattlecan, would i have to do any special prep work to make it stick and not crack? Remember, this is not permanent, just a temp solution so my truck won't look like 10 pounds of hammered owl shit for 2 years while i'm waiting to bodydrop. Any other suggestions? I really don't dig tweed, it'll be hard to find that in dark blue or orange. And it's a 99 s10, so it's got that soft (but firm) kind of rubbery dash stuff.
what about one of those paintable flame ones from nu image
i used fusion, ran it on a daily driver for a year has not cranked or faded.
SEM vynil dye. You just clean it well, and spray on their prep stuff and let it dry, then spray the dye on it. My friend did a bench seat with it like 2 years ago. It hasn't faded. When he first did it he scraped it with a razorblade to see if it would come off and it reacted like actual vynil.
thanks for the replies. Eddie, i'm just wanting a temp "for right now" kind of thing, those paintable dash covers are like $300. Thanks for the idea, though, i really appreciate it. Josh, what's fuzion? is it a kind of paint or dye or what? Seth, i googled it and came across their website, only problem is i'm wanting to do the dash bright orange, and i did'nt see that color choice. But i will email them and see if they have any. Thanks again, all.
