Would this stuff hold up pretty well if I barely even use the bed? Either I'll do this or just spraypaint black.. but since that stuff might be a little rubbery or textured it seemed maybe better..
I don't want to get it professionally done since I would be bagging the rear in the future.. but if this stuff is worth the $ or if you guys have any other suggestions, let me know!
yeh it holds up good i have used but make sure u prep it very well first
I'm not too big on the DIY bedliners for durability reasons. I've done 2 in my truck (SEM) and they didnt hold up. But if I was to suggest one, I'd say the U-POL Raptor. I did one at work the other day, and it feels pretty durable
It really shouldnt be called bedliner more of thin Undercoat . If you are going to go with an DIY kit go with Hippo Liner kit Its about the same price and covers more . Tintable or black . I used the Tintable one in my truck to get a good base then sanded and BaseCoat Cleared it to match Truck Exact
if you use the dupli-color, DO NOT ROLL IT ON! There are no solids in it and the texture comes purely from the roller or the spray pattern. The raptor stuff is pretty good as well as the hippo liner. As Maz2low said, the duplicolor is thin but you can build it up in coats(let dry, between or else it will run). I sprayed a few speaker boxes and a trunk with the dupli-color using a cheap home depot sandblasting gun. Or try to find a spray gun with a 1/4" nozzle size. You have to thin it a tad bit with acetone when you spray it.
i used the duplicolor in the back of my honda, it was decent, not the best, but it's held up.
it stains easy tho.
I think I'm gonna clean it up, scuff it and spraypaint it with a good quality rattle can gloss black. I won't have much in the bed to scratch it anyway.. and I might even put down some thin rubber, or outdoor type carpet. That with a Tonneau cover.. should look cleaner than it is now!
I used the dupli color. It was OK.
Like mentioned, it is rather thin, and you have to build it up with multiple layers. I also didn't get much texture, and it cracked in a few of the corners( might have been poorly prepped areas though ).
Mine also faded considerably over about a year and a half. Not too white, bit felt kind of chalky.
I have heard the herculiner kits are better, but have no personal experience with them.
My bed right now has some kind of old cheap bedliner chipping off, so I might get 1 can of the Duplicolor stuff and spray in the areas where the old stuff has chipped off, just to even out the texture throughout the bed.. THEN, put a few coats of gloss black spraypaint over it.
Would that or using rubberized undercoat work better? The undercoating has a brownish tint sometimes.. but if I'm just using it for the texture, and gloss black for the color.. should be better than the duplicolor spray right?
