So I bought a 91 S10 2.8 5 speed with irocs and cut springs and blocks it runs good and it was a buddy of mines so I did a lot of stuff on it but he primered it and did a terrible job there is primer on everything it isn't even there is already rust co,ming through all over he shaved the drivers side body line kind of it needs to be smoothed but it is to be my daily so I can park my mazda and get the front set up and hopefully body work and paint done and it is killing me becasue its new and i want to rip into it real bad but I can't until i finish my mazda otherwise my wife will kill me but I do want to reprime it at least so it doesn't rot out any ideas on the easiest way to strip that crap primer off
320 grit on a DA sander because that will take care of the rust too. Then use an epoxy primer because it will help keep it from rusting again.
primer does not protect from uv or moisture, if your gonna redo it i would suggest sealing with a sealer and then a single stage color so when you're ready to work on it you can block the single stage and then prime and paint...
The epoxy primer I used had a sealer in it.
yeah that is mixed in one according to the can
I was thinking bout getting some single stage tractor paint cause its cheap as shit and spraying it after I prime to seal it thats what we use on the race cars and it actually spray good and looks good enough for a year or so while I finish the mazda. How much does the epoxy primer run? I might use that on the mazda for a while when I do body work, I love that F150.
the epoxy doesnt run much really, i suggest that over "tractor paint". body shop guys will hate you when you get to that point im sure. sorta like spray painting your ride.
i got a quart of DTM epoxy black from HOK for like 40 bucks if I remember right?
