Yeah I was taught by 2 body guys from different body shops at dealerships. Just kinda went with what they did
I'll stand by the fiberglass, I always felt it is almost necessary for a patch panel type repair, or shave job (same thing basically) and one coat will fill your small holes, give you a good adhesion point, and add some regidity to your repair area, minimizing the chance for cracking, or visible edges after you get it painted. Filler that is spread into cracks and such has a tendency to eventually show that edge more than fiberglass will.
evercoat - tiger hair then your body filler of choice i use evercoat lightweight filler and smooth and put a good poly base primer
may sound stupid but just wanting some clarity
this is not just staight resin and hardener or....????? or is it a special type of glass that i can pick up at a autobody supply place?
when i tuck a filler in, i tack it, sand it, tack it, sand it and make sure its completely filled and then i just use filler. I use Evercoat products. I dont use fiberglass, its known to not adhear to the metal for long periods. I havent ever used it and if sanded right and put into primer, i've never had any water problems.
