I think this has been asked before but I cuoldn't find it or find any descent pictures of it. Right now my cab mounts are just made out of 2x4 tubing. I am wanting to style it up a little and use bar ends for cab mounts. Exactly how does it work. Do you put a washer on the bolt head end to keep everything snugged up. Will it be alot stiffer than the factory bushings. Any pics or help would be appreciated. Thanks

I dont completely under stand what your saying but this is what i did.
I ordered a polyurathane rod from mc mastercarr 2" o.d. 12" long put it in the lathe drill a 1/2 hole through the center then cut em to the desired thickness (3/8 in my case).
Then got some 2-1/8 i.d. pipe with i think 1/8 or 3/16 wall thickness cut em about 1-1/2 inches long capped off one end. Threw em in the lathe to cut of the welds and make em look all pretty
You basically end up with a metal "cup" almost that has a hole drilled in the center for your body mount bolt
Hope that helps bro

Jon, PleasuresBurban, did that with his Nissan. He had a good pic of em somewhere too....

a washer bigenough and thick enough to weld to the pipe should be good.

without being a dick.......
no, dont do that.
Get DOM tube....usually 2" OD with .25wall, which will give you a 1.5" ID.. Then go get soem 1.5 OD DOM wiht a .50wall thicness....cut a "Washer" like chunk of the 1.5" OD DOM, and bevel the edges and insert it into the 2" OD DOM untill its flush with the top, then run a good solid bead all the way around ware you beveled. When your done just grind it smooth.....or you can take it one step further, and put it in a lathe and face the end off so that it looks like it was naturally done that way out of a solid piece of material.
Then you can drill out the hole in the center to whatever size you want...if 1/2 isnt big enough for you. Essentially, thats what i did with my link end mounts....so their nice and strong and look good too. I drilled mine out to 9/16 tho.
the washer on the pipe is a bad idea just because it looks like shit, and welding a washer is just gay.
sorry, i hope this isnt viewed as "Hating"

For the big WASHER-thingy, I cut 1/4" chunks off a chunk of 2" solid round cold rolled, drill whatever size hole I need, chamfer both the washer and the 2" OD Tube really good to get full penetration, then weld them together with a nice bead then grind and sand smooth.
You can do the same thing with whatever size pipe is needed to hold your factory body bushings nice. I would estimate like 4" OD or something. And then cut the end cap circles out of some 1/4" plate with the plasma or o/a. I do smaller circles on a drill press, a hole saw and lotsa cutting oil.
