I love this look. Next thing I build will look fairly stock on the exterior, with maybe the antenna and emblems shaved.
I agree.
I love the look of a stock exterior and almost a full custom frame underneath.
I think that this is going to be a big new trend along with more old school trucks.
I can also see more metalshaping and custom exterior sheetmetal being an upcoming trend. Especially with the way full frame builds are growing.
Yah I would say the next best thing would be just simple and clean, everyone has already gone as far as they can with wheel size fad... 24's on a S-10!!! come on now Take it down a notch some 18's hell 17's and just a clean simple ride

people will probably find some way to take their factory handles off and weld a metal filler in the place of them. i would imagine they'd mount some sort of actuator inside the door to open it. call me a visionary if you'd like. honestly, no clue about the next big thing.
I could definetly see the stock body laid out on big wheels look coming in big as well. Thats the plan for my next project but I have to finish what I already started first. haha.
16" RONAL R-9's (ask an old schooler if you don't know what those are) WILL BE THE NEXT BIG THING ........I've been saying for about 3 yrs now that early 90's style will be the next big thing & from what I see in this thread I might've be right.....The other thing I can see getting BIG is restos like LAST LOOK (thanks to FESTER & BK2LIFE)
less will be more. You want to know where the scene is headed, look to the far east, the japanese minitruckers are turning out some of the most creative and intricately detailed work I have ever seen, and it all flows together.
Compare that to the iceballer (my term) rides that are all about how much stuff costs with mismatched theme, 84 color, graphics and big rectangle woofer boxes with fiberglassed woofer mounts, complicated ICE systems, big engines, complicated frames (especially ones with TWO LINKS), and 22"-24"-26" wheels with tires that look like rim edge protectors. Nothing really goes together.
Trucks today look like someone ate the last 20 cover trucks, partially digested them, and then threw them up on their own trucks.
Simple, clean, and purpose built. Thats the coming trend. Look in the japanese show coverage, I would put some of those underconstruction rides against half of the last year feature trucks.
When I was 13 I thought truxterosa was the shit. haha
I like the clean factory look outside also and I am seeing alot more of it. I also think more people will build rides that they aren't afraid to drive. I see all my buddies with basically trailer queens looking at me with a little envy because I can drive my truck everyday and to any show and not be afraid of messing something up. Granted my truck is still in primer but even when it is done it will pretty much still be a daily driver. I want a truck I can drive. Evetually I will build a trailer queen but I will always have a truck I can drive and drag daily.
