1998 mazda rear end

ok a buddy brought a pumkin to the house the other night to fix some rearend bearing thought it would be easy well the pinion gear was stuck in the housing due to a piece in between the bearings anyone done this before have some pointers

what are you trying to get off?

are you trying to take out the center pin? you need a 6 point 8mm wrench to take the bolt out to slide the center pin out, so you can push the axle in and take the c clip off

or are you talking about the shim on the side?
