Putting IRS in an AStro?

Well we are planning on building a full frame for the astro and I was wondering if I were to use an IRs whould an Import rear be to wimpy for the weight of an astro? or would i be better off trying to find a vette or thunderbird IRS?

you might do better to order a custom IRS from Mustang or Air Ride Tech. But if you don't want to go that route, other options could be: Trailblazer, newer explorer, or even a newer jeep wrangler(especially if you are going to use bags).

I would definatelly look into a larger vehicle to pull it out of instead of a smaler import. besides a domestic newer model vehicle is more likely to be at a scrap yard compared to the smaller import.

An IRS out of a Corvette would be your best bet. Bolt pattern is the same (it will match what you have now), Driveshaft might bolt right up (you may have to shorten or lengthen it to fit) Plenty strong for the Astro. Not the most expensive, but not the cheapest route either. Good deals can still be found if you keep looking.

A C-4 vette rear end would be perffect for the astro find them all day in the salvage yards around 1200
