4.3 swap tranny question

It came with a 700r4 with the transfer case. It will be a bit of work to switch it to 2 wheel drive. So can I use a 5 speed instead?

Running a 5 speed gets much more complicated than an auto. Clutch resivior, and clutch pedal assebly can be a pain to move into a custom application.
