air cylinders on s10

i got a set of cylinders layin around and i wanna put em on my s10 in the rear...could i just set it up like a regular bag install and then instead of bag, just have brackets for the top but for the threaded shaft i cant figure it out? could i use a reg car bracket and cut it and weld it to axle and it be safe enuff? i can weld really good adn all, i just wanna make sure its gonna be mechanically safe, dont wanna kill anyone..thanks in advance..
