removing leaf spring from 88-98 c1500

can it be done? has it been done? was it worth it?

if you need to go lower i would suggest a flip kit to mount the leafs on the bottom of the axle. then if you want lower just use lowering shackles. my truck was stupid low without a flip kit or notch... just shackles. but i was about half inch from the frame...
