Widest tire for 8" wide wheel

Anybody know what the widest tire i can run on an 8" wide wheel is?i'd like to run a 255 on it, but the specs i find say they are for 8.5"+. will they be ok on an 8" wide wheel?

yep, they will actually stick out a bit past the edge of the rim, kind of protecting them from curbchecks

That should work just fine. The Nissan has 245 on an 8" wheel and it looks pretty normal.
