Nylon will work, but it will tansfer any vibrations from the chassis into the cab.

Stock rubber is my preference for a driver, but eurethane works well too.

I have thought about cutting the stock ones down, but i thought it might make them too soft.

That is a rally general question... You can cut them, but it depends on where or how.
