Ok so ive heard many different ideas on the best place to place them so i figured i would get a mass opinion from everyone here. Is it best to mount it directly after the compressor before the tanks or to mount it before the airline leaves the tank to the valves ? i can see a plus side to both but i need the best way !

mount them where the air leaves the tank and have a tank with a drain.

thats the best and only way to do it. the tank builds condinsation from the temperature differences. not just from the compressors. other wise, dont even both with between the compressor and tank

I agree with between the compressor and tank. I dont want to jack the tread but what kind of water traps are you guys running? and were are you getting them?

Yea in running SMC 1/2 inch i got mine at Suicide doors, and I wanted to mount them between the tank and the compressor but the tank will constanly build up condensation on the inside so i figure that it would be smarter to put them between the tanks and the valves. And if i tee the lines that come out of the tank then i only have two water traps and thats not that bad to me . My main goal is to keep water out of my valves and keep them from freezing .

that is the major point of all water traps. Not to keep water out of your tank. if you dont plan on draining alot use a stainless or aluminum tank to resist rust build up. if your want water out of your valves, you cannot half ass it
