chevy v8 swap

hey guys i just picked up a chevrolet 4.8 v8, it comes in the silverados, i got the motor, trans, harness, ecu, i was told that maybe it wouldnt work without the guages, can anyone confirm or deny this? im putting it in my 61 ford unibody and havent bought anything yet as far as wiring, etc.

not sure where to start becuse of this issue. as far as i know this should be all i need but any help is appreciated.

Maybe call Painless and see if they know? Or if they have a harness for it already that will let it work with other gauges.
