help truck wont charge

yea it wont charge n yes it has new battery n altnater.It only charges up to 9volts when reved up n drops fast but truck starts fine n the lights dont dim also when i take off the ground it charges a lil better any info would help thanks guys

if the truck has a new battery and new alternator, and the battery has water...i would start by checking the grounds, like the negative battery cable..see if it has a good connection on the motor or frame, and maybe even trying to add one or two..see if that makes a difference

retest the alternator. ive had badones right out of the box. it definalty sounds like a ground is off, or a fuse link is bad some were. what kind of vehicle?

Sounds like a dead cell. Even new batteries can have a dead cell. Best thing to do is take your battery and alternator to Shucks/NAPA/ whatever and get a free check on both.

try putting a volt tester on your battery while its running ... maybe your guage isnt correct also. if your lights arnt dimming and your truck starts ok check the vltag on the battery to verify your getting an accurate reading first i would say.

on newer trucks if the gauge is bad, the alt wont charge...

hey sorry guys its a 98 s10 yea if the alt. was bad the truck would die if i took the ground or pos. of the battery but it runs fine thanks guys
