gas gauge keeps dropping

my gas tank has been moved to the rear of the bed. a while back, whenever the gauge went to around a quarter of a tank it would just drop all the way to empty suddenly. now, it does it any time. sometimes it goes all the way down and sometimes as it is going down it will come right back up to where it was. its like it temporarily looses power. any suggestions?

I'm assuming when you moved the tank you had to lengthen the wires right? sonds like a bad connection at one of the splices. Or your sending unit is going bad, but I'd bet on the wiring.

check the ground wire and other connectios. hope it is an easy fix

its could be because the float was designed for the tank as it was mounted stock, when you turn the tank 90 deg an mount in the back, the float is more sensative to gas sloshing around around turns. Just a possibility.
