ok im sure many of you guys have been following or at least read the tech article in mt about the 89-95 yota weekend warrior.im interested in trying to b/d my taco the way they did by cutting around the frame rails and moving the body mounts down.what are your thoughts on this.i know i wont sacrafice the head room as much as a traditonal b/d.and the tranny tunnel is no big deal. any input is appreciated

the only thing i think of that it would be uneven floor at your feet. witch i think would be aquward.

The bodydropped yota in my profile was done this way and all i can say IS: DONT DO IT i hated it...The rail for the frame goes right under the pedals and it really sucks for working the pedals if you have large feet. The truck looked cool and all but trying to drive it was no easy task. I would suggest a traditional or a stock floor over that method especially in a yota. Thats my two cents....

yeah would not go with the channel. as much work as your goin to put into channeling the thing you might as well stock floor it, which i know i should have done. your taller than me but mine traditional with the civic seats on the floor isnt to bad, considering the truck in 4 foot tall and i six foot tall. the uneven floor with the channeling sucks and as for the tranny tunnel you would only have to raise it if you go past the pinch i do beleive. all and all go with the stock floor, it shouldnt be to hard, the hardest part about it is taking the truck apart and remembering how to put it back together.

Sorry no i didnt take pics of it before i practically gave it away i think if you do a search for 85 or 84 sr5's the guy that has it might still be able to be reached...but i flat out hated everything about the design on the frontier i am doing a better setup lol if you dont wanna build a frame do the traditional it is just as much work as the channel...

it is actually going to take more work to channel. You have to channel for the frame rails, the tranny, the gas tank (if you keep factory tank), and your drive shaft. Plus you have to cut and lower the cab mounts. A raise floor B/D pretty much takes care of all that with one cut. Yeah you lose some head room, but you can build some lower seat brackets to gain some back.
