Can anybody in the Houston area recommend a good machine shop? Im looking to have some spindles bored out and tapered bushings made for a ball joint flip but none of the shops ive contacted want to touch it because of liability reasons.

You may have to do it yourself, i've found these but never have used them myself.

I did mine for my F150I took a machine class at the local community college after we learned the basics, we could do whatever projects we wanted. It took a long time for me to make the inserts. The reamers pictured are just meant to shape the final few thousandths of an inch, you don't ram them into a 1/2" ID tube and use it to shape the whole hole.If I didn't have access to a mill(to drill the holes in the spindles) a lathe(to make the inserts) and a press(to press in the inserts) I wouldn't have been able to do it.

Maybe have one shop make the inserts and another just drill out the spindles. I can't see why someone would be against just drilling holes in spindles. You can press them in pretty easily at home with a torch and a vice (heat the spindle to make it expand and put the insert in the freezer for a few days. Then press it in using a vice with a jaw protector.

Good luck

That is exactly what i want to do Pneufab, but nobody in my area is willing to try. By any chance would you have the specs of holes u drilled and the inserts u made so i could take them to a shop and maybe get them to work with me.
