im really thinking of taking the roof off my truck pretty soon. i was just wondering what everyone's doing to re-inforce the body if anything and if it's necessary since i only drive the truck once or twice a month... any help and pictures would be greatly appreciated...

To fully understand you. You want to just leave the windshield and cut the top and back pillars off...correct?

YES U HAVE TO REINFORCE THE CAB TO DO IT CORRECTLY -- MY TRUCK HAS A INNER ROLLCAGE -- I ONLY DRIVE IT TO SHOWS AND IF THE WEATHER IS NICE OUT -- IF YOU DONTHAVE A INNER STRUCTURE OF SOME SORT YOUR BODY WILL FLEX --- CHECK OUT THE PROFILE TO SEE THE INNER SUPPORT - ITS A BOLT ON SO IT CAN BE REMOVED TO PAINT OR WHATEVER -- LET ME KNOW IF U HAVE ANY QUESTIONS --

Like when re-inforcing a suicide door you have to think structurally what its going to take. Like he said a roll cage or what not I would have square tubing or just tubing (that is up to you) going from one side to the other holding your pillars inplace where they are now (before cutting anything) also I would have tubing going from that bar which would be located at the highest point possible maybe lowered just enough to clear your seat when leaned back but this would only be if you have a standard cab. Then have tubing comming from that cross bar at a slight angle downward toward the door but still behind the opening of the door this also depends on if its a standard cab or not then have id say two bars comming straight down slightly off the center off the cab ruffly where the inner half of the seat is on each side. Hope i didnt get you too confused on what to do. Anymore questions just let me know. Sorry I do not have any pics of this mod. I know madmods did this as well but I don't think they have any pics of this on there website unless someone has show pics or snagged them from the shop

Oh yes before I forget lol to just cap off the pillar post with sheet metal and If I were you I think it looks best when you cut the windsheild down a little and angle it back.

well i did it last night...i cut about 2 inches above windshield to leave the support for the pillars.. the doors i left 1/2inch of the door post and cut the ex-cab portion even with the top of the door posts. and i just removed the rear glass... i'm going to have to trim everything down some more for everything to be even with the top of the door and even with the bed in the rear... i'll be making templates for the door pillars and everything else tomrrow and have it all cut and welded in sometime next week.. then another week for bodywork ... and i'll be gettin a fresh cowl hood, new stock bumper, and mey seats shortened and re-wrapped, and all hopefully in time for drop zone...
