s-10 gas tank help

hay i just took off my gas neck from my 2000 s-10 i want to shorten it i washed it all out and and i put it in a bucket od soapy water . i was wondering how long i should keep it in the buck of water for? dofore i can cut it and re tack the fill cap on??? thanks mike...

Now. Shouldn't have much to worry about. I took mine off and just started cutting on it. If I understand you right its just the neck (metal) and its not still connected to the gas tank so even if ya do get a spark its not gonna blow up or burn that much

Ha alright, might have a rag next to you just in case it catches fire a lil but you'll be fine

sounds like you should be alright, just keep a blow gun at close reach.

it wont catch fire, its just a filler neck. just make sure you dont melt the plastic ball valve thing in it that keeps gas from spilling out in a rollover.
