I was going to get a bed cover for my LUV, and a Hard cover is too expensive... I was going to go with a Soft cover from CheckerPro.com that opens just like a hard cover... anyone use one of these before? or see one and know how well they work?

Also is there a way I could make one, and have it not weight too much? I don't have access to welding aluminum, so it would have to be a steel frame, with something to cover it... Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Oh and sooner the better because I am trying to get my truck looking decent by Cruise for a Cure on June 24th...

make a hard cover...
RIVIT the aluminum...
put sheet foam in between alum....
fiberglass over it all...
or make a soft cover if you must.....
RIVIT the aluminum,...
fold vynal over aluminum frame with an alum strip folded up in edge of vynal and run rivits thrue that strip into frame
---i dunno give it a try.. never seen a home made soft sover that didnt look like ass. i think (i could be wrong) tat you have to special order the vynal to be big enough... other wise you would wind up with a seam somewhere......?????

Well if i was going to go with the soft cover I would go with a bought one... Like this: http://checkerpro.com/softtonneaus.html

I would prefer a hard cover though, which I would want to make...

If your going to build one and plan on keeping it on your truck for awhile, I would suggest not setting a deadline. It shouldn't take a lot of time to build one since it's a smaller truck but anything worth doing is worth doing right. Plus trial and error can get costly and time consuming.

Take your time and don't cut corners. It will turn out better if you're patient.

Just check out your prices, time to build, and deadline. You might be better off just buying one instead of making one from scratch. I would suggest aluminum if you plan on building it yourself.

Good luck!
