7" booster vs. hydraboost

While i was in an O'Reillys looking for plastic grommets, i mentioned to a younger looking guy what i was needing them for. We got to talking, and i told him that i had a 7" dual diaphragm brake booster, and he said i needed to use a hydraboost. He said "No offense, but let me know when you're on the road so i won't be there" This pissed me off, he acted like i did'nt know shit about what i was doing. At first i just dismissed it because i think it's a rule that you can't know jack shit about cars to work at O'Reilly, Auto Zone, etc, etc (that's been my experience anyway, they can't help you with anything unless you have the make, model, year, drivetrain, tranny, a/c serial numbers and all that jazz, if yall are like me your shit's about 7 different makes and models, lol), but then i got to thinking, what if he was right? Anyone else got s10's with 7" boosters? How's the braking? I know it's not gonna stop on a dime, but am i going to have to leave an extra 100 feet for when i stop? Do i need to get a hydraboost? I really just did'nt want to have to t into the power steering lines.

i have a 7" dual diaphram in my mazda.
i needed it because i have four wheel disc which required 1200 psi.

i'm sure a hydro would have been better but i also did'nt want to tap into my power steering and have the extra lines.
my dual diphram works great.

I put a single 7 inch on a blazer last month and the brakes where about the same as the eight and a half booster.I thought they felt a little sensitive for my taste.I was not expecting that from a seven inch booster.putting 7's on real big trucks is where you have the problems.

Also I would like to add the dual seven was a factory corvette part so I would think it works well.

We are stopping mini trucks here with bigger wheels normally not big dually's with heavy ass disel engines. If a 7" booster was put out by chevy to stop a corvette I think we will all be good.

i had the same question about a week ago. i would still like to drive something with the hydroboost so i could compare my 7" booster stuff to it. my truck stops it just doesnt stop like id like it to. i have to consider the fact that its on 20s and its just a lil harder to stop and the fact that its not gunna stop like factory. but it does suck when your not paying attention and you all of a sudden have to stand on the brake pedal with 2 feet and slam your whole truck to the ground to help it stop to avoid slamming into the vehicle in front of you.

does the hydroboost malfunction a lot Cris?

also, Cobb tells me you had some Wilwood contraption that went under your dash in your Mazda, was that any good, considering that when i sell my DAMN s10 im gunna get a Mazda?

The blazer I built had twentys and the brakes felt fine. You might check to see if you have air somewhere in your lines.
