North Carolina people HELP

ok so i am moving there SOON and I need to know what kind of taxes there are there and about vehicle inspections? ANY AND ALL INFO would be GREAT!!!!

North Carolina does have a state safety inspection and in certain areas that does include an emissions check. It varies from county to county though on whether or not you have to have your emissions checked.

Tax is 3% of the book value of the vehicle in the state of North Carolina. Where are you moving to? Im located in Greenville,NC. We have emissions testing here.

Basically tax from how I see it is, 50$ per 1000$ value of the vehicle. And the inspection varies from county to county. Where I'm located anything later than 96' has to have a emission test done & they WILL not inspect your ride with a engine light on. Taxes arent that bad here and its just an obd-II test for 96-up vehicles, no sniff tests cept for raleigh and charlotte I believe.

winston-salem is an emissions county (96+) btw, there are no sniff test in north carolina as of jan. 1, 2006
