88-98 fullsize front shocks

Anyone ever ran the shocks off of the upper control arm? I'm thinking about running some tubing from the firewall to the radiator support, and mounting the upper shock mount to that, and the lower mount top center of the UCA. Anyone ever done this?

i have never seen it but it might work out ok. it would leave you room for a good turning radias, but it would take room in the engine bay. if you get it done let me know how it turns out

I've had 2 sets of shock configurations up front, both interfering with turn radius. I've been running no shocks for a while, and now that i"m bodydropped, I need them so I can ride low and the truck wont bounce

i though about doing the smae thing u said, bending some tubing off the fire wall 2 the radiator support, and going off the upper. shouldnt interfear with turning.

I did it on my 94 years ago. bent a hoop off the frame.

all you guys gotta do is treat it like an s10, notch in the back of the arm so the shock can recess in the arm, and replate it, then drill a hole, and weld a nut in it, then bolt the shock to the arm. and then just a std upper mount on the top of the frame. all that crap above the arms doesnt look right, and doesnt function as well as a shock on the lower arm.

Why would running the shock on the uppper arm not function as well?

my frame is notched and its bolted 2 the lower arm,looks really good
